A sort of curmudgeonly question... Why bother to make something, which
is not a period food, out of period ingredients? One could, far more
easlily, use purple food coloring to color the cookie, or make the
shortbread and put purple icing on it and present it as an SCA gift.
We all live with (and usually enjoy!) SCA "anachronisms" when they are
admitted as such and fall within the scope of "fun" rather than
"re-creation". Receiving one's Laurel is an SCA-ism, not a re-creation
of a period activity. Make a basket of purple fleur-de-lys. Make a
shortbread laurel wreath of cookies to pull apart by the visitors.
Make a large sheet cookie with rice paper in the middle and pen (in
edible coloring/pen) the Laurel oath, or her scroll wording. Make an
edible box with purple fleur de lys inside, or attached to the sides as
decoration...
