here's a recipe I used to use for a "Quick Mix" that approximates Biscuick...
8 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoons cream of tarter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups non-fat dry milk
2 1/4 cups shortening
Sift all dry ingresdients and blend well. With a pasry blender, cut in
shortening until evenly distributed. Mixture will resemble cornmeal. Put in
an airtight container label and store in a cool dry place. It will keep for
10 - 12 weeks. Makes about 13 cups of quick mix. (can also be made with 4
1/4 cups all purpose flour and 4 1/4 cups whole wheat flour instead of all
white flour - Just increase baking powder to 5 teaspoons.)
To make quick biscuits, mix 3 cups quick mix with 2/3 cup of water or milk and
let stand for 5 minutes. Knead about 15 times and roll out onto a floured
board. bake at 450 for 10 minutes.
For drop biscuits, mix 3 cups quick mix with 3/4 cup milk or water and drop
tablespoonsful onto a greased baking sheet - Bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes.
This even works for those "Impossible Pies" on the Bisquick box.
Enjoy! Sister Mary Endoline
