Take 1 24 oz bottle of a good sweet red wine, put in a sauce pan with 1
cup each currents, rasins and almond slivers, the zest of 2 oranges, 2
nice slices of candied ginger and 1 apple, chopped.
in another saucepan put a 24 oz bottle of brandy with 2 cups of sugar.
bring the first pan to a good simmer, and gently heat the second one to
just above body heat, stirring the sugar to dissolve and light with a
match. let it burn out.
when the brandy has gone out, mix in the wine mixture, simmer for a few
minutes more.
decant into a widemouth jar- preferably glass 1 gallon mayo, well
cleaned. let live in your fridge for a month. strain out the solids, re
bottle in something else, and let coexist in the fridge at least 6
months.
this stuff is great warmed up around a campfire on those really chilly
pennsic nights.
