This sounds more like a medieval/Renaissance cake than bread.  I am 
willing to be disputed but I don't recall seeing any references to 
breads with "things" in them.  Cakes, however, were very similar to 
breads and did contain ingredients similar to the above.  I would think 
if you are entering a "period contest" that you should look for 
something without "flavoring" additives such as the above unless you 
call it a cake.  (And there are plenty of recipes available for those!)
