I once made a horehound cough medicine. It worked really well; basically
 horehound, honey and water.

It worked on coughs and colds a treat, with the major problem being
that it tasted like REALLY nasty cough medicine.

I gave up on horehound; make coltsfoot, elecampagne and nettle
 tea instead.

I acually love the taste once it is sufficiently sweetened--but enough
sugar or honey to do *that* literally turns it to syrup, so the best move is
probably to just go ahead and make the classic horeound candy if you are
wanting it for coughs. It keeps better than a tea or syrup, anyway, and is
convenient to carry around with you........
Only trouble is that sugar is reputed to create the mucous that the
horehound is so good at breaking up! *Sigh* Some times you just can't
win............ ;-)

I haven't heard of any horehound drinks before, but the simple horehound
tea, sweetened to taste (Or for better keeping properties, a syrup with
horehound steeped in it), should do.......... For those of you who actually
like beer, substituting horehound for the hops might be an interesting
experiment! It's certainly bitter enough.......... ;-)
