And it came to pass on 8 Jan 98, that Gretchen M Beck wrote,
regarding the day beginning at dark:

It is still Jewish tradition, which has not changed with the advent
of artificial lights. Days begin with the coming of dark. Thus, the
Sabbath begins at dusk on Friday, and ends Saturday night. There are
many detailed laws (which I am not versed in) that discuss exactly
how to determine the precise moment when night has fallen.
