SC - trencher question (WAS: table manners)

I'm quite new to this list.  I'm a nursing student pursuing a degree and
certification as a Nurse Practitioner.  I was an EMT for two years before
I started school again.  I also have a BA in Philosophy and an MS in
Education. (Just didn't have the temperment to drag 36 students at a time,
five times a day toward a tolerance for reading), and I worked in
advertising in Electronic media for a year (too corporate for my taste).

While I have yet to "feast-o-crat" my first event, I have worked in
various people's kitchens and I am accustomed to feeding large Numbers
both SCAdianly and mundanely (if you consider gaming cons "mundane").  I
worked one summer as a cook in a small restaurant/bar, so I understand the
prevalance of alcoholism among cooks - my ex was a good example of that
trend.

Baking is one of my favorite pursuits, but I love all aspects of cooking,
especially the part about bringing happiness to those with whom I share
the results of my efforts.  I hate washing dishes (dishwashers are cool,
but you can't put the Calphalon in them).
