Giving a whole new meaning to the quotation (mangled paraphrase):
A book in the hand is a garden for the soul / thoughts.
Now, my source for said quote was not among the most diligent about
attributions. I think they phrased it "old Arabic saying" or some
such.
Anyone have an idea as to the actual source(s)?
