The vast majority of brandies are distilled grape wine.  Fruit brandies are
made from soaking dried fruits (usually) in grape brandy and then adding a
sweetener with a few notable exceptions, such as Slijvovitch (plum), applejack
(apples), kirschwasser (cherries) and Williams Pear.
