SC - Personal info

Hokay, here goes
I was born and raised in the Southern United States.  Mom was of 'Cajun stock,
and Dad was of French/Scots/Irish stock.  His one French ancestor (many
generations removed) settled in Alabama sometime around the French Revolution,
and married into the Scots/Irish community already there.  So, although my
patronym is French, my cooking background on that side is more Celtic (For
instance, my Big Mama taught me to make beaten biscuits, and to call them
scones)

In February of this year I shall celebrate my first half century.

I have knocked around and been and done a wide variety of things, I am a
certified cattle inseminator and I hold a degree in Anthropology.  I've done
so many things to win my bread that it would be pointless to list them, even a
partial list would be too long. 

I currently am attached to an Elven Communications Device for 8-12 hours a
day, instructing mundanes in the proper care and feeding of Elven
Communication Devices.(I honestly think my right ear is getting bigger than my
left)

I have two daughters, fifteen years apart.  Both are in the SCA.  So is my
"S/O".

I have always cooked, and enjoyed the creative outlet it gives me.  An
appreciative eater warms this cook's heart.  I am the Cook for Warrior Haven,
a new, small household.  Until I joined the list, my main attempt at cooking
"period" was to use only ingredients I thought were medieval, and to refuse to
alow them to pull a modern gas stove into my camp kitchen.  

I am learning WAY too much about how little I know, and enjoying every post.
I have a lot of new recipes that I would love to try for the upcoming
Estrella, but this year it is already hammered in stone that I shall once
again cook my Gumbo.  Ahh weel, perhaps next year.
 My health is a bit fragile, I am diabetic, and the members of my house refuse
to allow me to cook the entire week this year.  Last year, I cooked every
meal, and wound up after War in the hospital with Pneumonia.  But I refuse to
allow them to entirely retire me.
