Having seen this happen, I suggest that you establish communication with
the cooks regarding just how much soup/pie/whatever each feaster should
recieve. Late feast (court + pearage meeting) => hungry feasters, which
made the servers serve too much to the first ones (prolly to pleas of
"please sir, can I have some more"), leaving them short for the last
ones. 

Tell then _one_ ladle of soup, have the kitchen staff cut the pies in
the right number of pieces, etc.
