The faire here in Colorado is nothing like the faires in California.
Only in the last two years has the court work outfits without zippers in
them.  Most of the items for sale and most of the costumes and not close
to period.  Food items are turkey legs, baked potatoes, Chinese stir
fry, etc.... Drinks are strawberry daiquiris, Coors beer, pina coloadas,
ice tea, etc....  We only go because it is fun.  I worked there before I
joined the SCA and had a blast, but I was introduced by someone from the
faire to the SCA and I never went back to work there.
