This works fairly well in a hall designed for theater or singing, but is
difficult when you can't hear the speakers.  It also requires a good sense
of timing, because you need to wait while a course is served and the
feasters quite down.

In such a situation, I like to present a course with some appropriate noise
and theater, get everyone eating, then return their attention to the
entertainment or court.  Frankly, court during feast usually fails because
there is not enough theater to keep the feaster's attention.
