I will throw something out here but READ IT THROUGH BEFORE REACTING. It is a
common fact that most British officers are gay. I was told this by 1.) my British
spouse, who was in the RAF and NOT an officer, and 2.) my friends Christopher and
Graham, who are British, brothers, and Chris is gay. Peter (my spouse) tried to
become an officer and was pretty much told to his face the only way to join the
"officers club" is to "put out" to the senior officers. I didn't believe it until
Chris dated a Lieutenant who also confirmed this to me. Graham said it stopped
him from going any further in the RAF cause he wanted to be a pilot. Of course,
this could just be an RAF thing.

It would have been possible that Kitchener was gay, BUT (no puns intended) I don't
think it matters when it comes to history and his part in it. He would have been
no better or worse if he were straight, gay, or whatever. I still like the term
"Cuisiner" myself, but I wouldn't object to Kitchener unless someone used it in a
rude way. But then again, who is carrying the butcher knives?
