Mint is a stomach calming agent as well.

Mint does exactly the opposite for me! Something that my Mother has never
fully been able to grasp as she constantly offered this to me when I
 complained of an upset tummy.

Does anyone know why mint would have the effect that it does on me?

Well, mint helps with stomch upsets by relaxing the muscles in that area.
That's generally helpful, but if you are prone to acid reflux it's
counterproductive, since it allows the stomach acids to back up into the
esophagus. Might be the source of your problem--or not. Could be something
else entirely! ;-)
