Well, as someone pointed out, they do have a relationship to the length of the
forearm bone (length of foot is the same measurement as your forarm from wrist
to dimple in elbow), which is one of the bones used to estimate height and
weight when the rest of the skeleton is not present.  A foot print is a bit
more iffy, as my anth prof pointed out but you can use the same formula, with
some adjustments (for shoes, dampness of ground, depth of footprint), to
estimate the height and weight of the footprint leaver.  We had all sortd of
fun with this one in class because so many people swore their body wasn't that
proportional, so Dr Gill showed up the next xlass with measuring tapes and
made everyone take off their shoes and measure their feet, then their forarms.
I thought it was rather interesting because it proved that I did actually have
longer arms than many people of the same height. . .explains why i have such a
hard time getting shirts that fit. . .
