I'm with Lord Ras on this one, every pine nut I have ever tasted had a
distinctive pine resin flavor. There are those I have tasted and
immediately known were rancid, but they don't all taste that way to me.
But, I was served a green bean dish at an event once that had pine nuts
added to it early on, therefore getting cooked into the dish. It tasted
like a sauce of turpentine. (I would guess their pine nuts were too old
to start with, plus the added cooking time.)
I like pine nuts (in small amounts), but even the freshest ones have the
(finish? did you call it Ras? Sounds like a wine-tasting term to me)
resiny flavor at the end.
I know that differerent people perceive flavors differently. Perhaps
this is an explantion here?
