To kill kudzu according to _The Book of Kudzu_ you can
1) Allow continuous, close grazing by a large number of animals for 2 or
3 seasons. For quicker results, plow each season.

2) Burning, Plowing, Mowing: This method allows eradication in one
season. Burn kudzu in the fall, then mow closely at the beginning of the
growing season (April); repeat at least 3 times during the summer.
Finally disc and plow deeply during the next fall or winter. This method
also works if the burning is omitted.

3)Digging up the roots: Use picks and shovels or a backhoe. This method
takes a great deal of time and effort, but the roots can be sold or
processed.

4)Applying chemicals: This method, which is extremely hard on the
environment, should be used only in forest areas and on highway
embankments, or as a last resort. The 3 most effective kudzu herbicides
listed by trade name (with common name in parentheses) in order of
effectiveness are Tordon (ticloran; made by Dow), Banvel (dicamba), and
Maintain (chlorflurenol). Other recommended herbicides include Silvex
and 2, 4, 5-T, and 2-4-D. The quickest way to eradicate kudzu is to burn
it in the fall, then plow the land and have a distributor behind the
tractor with which to spread 50 pounds of Tordon pellets per acre of
land; this method eradicates kudzu in one year. Or the pellets can be
broadcast with a "belly Grinder" cyclone seeder in live kudzu, but
eradication then takes 2 years and requires several treatments. Some
grasses may be grown starting 6 mos. after application but broadleaf
plants must wait one to 2 years.

So says _The Book of Kudzu_ on page 90.

Hope this helps,
Genevia
