I would suggest contacting your omsbudsman about this extra fee you mentioned
for non-members. The pay-to-play thing was eradicated shortly after it was
instuted by the BOD. In many ways such a policy clearly jeopardizes the  legal
staus of the SCA. All such fees have been totally eliminated except at Pennsic
in the East kingdom and Aethelmearc.
