Yes, but it was pointed out to me that many people play politics by asking the
people who are Laurels (et al) to judge.  In fact, this is so widely accepted in
some areas that a peer would be offended to have a non-peer judge when they have
not been invited to judge.  In some cases, the peer would be offended if a
non-peer was judging even if she was judging as well (because the other is not
"recognised") even if the non-peer was more knowledgable in the field.  Okay, now,
before I am misquoted here, I AM NOT ADVOCATING THIS POSITION.  I am simply
stating that some people have been shunned for their choices in judges.  While
many of us do not play politics and it is a sad state of affairs that someone can
suffer for stepping on the "wrong toes" even if it was unintentional, it does
happen.  You should weigh this carefully as well (if politics concern you at all)
and find out what the normal practices of your area are.  If politics (and the
reactions of those who do not agree with your choices) do not concern
you...vivat!  Good luck and use your common sense and sensibilty when choosing
your judges.
