Suggested course of action: recognition of the two kinds of SCA cookery. 
Don't downgrade for creativity if it is an attempt at exact redaction,
but do give extra points in exactitude.   For the peri-oid cookery, you
do get points in originality but not as many for the periodicity of the
item.  Either/or (instead of trying to wear both hats at the same time)
will work for both without penalizing either.

And do follow Noemi's suggestion of discussing the problem and possible
solutions with the Kingdom MOA/S.  Maybe even a discussion topic in a
Laurels' meeting?
