The orange tiger lily, or the yellow day lilly such as Stella d'Oro? 
Lillies of the Valley are poisonous, according to some of my manuals. 
What's the safety scoop on the various large lillies?

Years ago, we passed children with huge armloads of calla lillies,
selling them at the side of the road, on the coastal roads between
Livorno, Monte Carlo, Monaco, Genoa, etc.  If they grow wild in the
modern day, they may have been a native lily.  Anyone ever come up with a
calla lily mention in period recipes?
