When I was a kid, we lived next door to a large, intimidating
Scotswoman. She was wont to say, about her son, "My Johnny, he's a guid

Well, we all know what happens to those big spoons when you whack with
them often enough. The bowl breaks off. But 'twuid be a sin an' a shame
tae waest sich a guid stick.
