But how can I possibly feel as if I were in the middle ages when I camp
next to a frat party? Who shall give in an reduce their enjoyment in
order to increase the others?

I don't know how it is where you are, but whenever we go to a
camping event, it is not so hard to find a quiet place to camp far
from the noise factor. I don't see the noisy party people as a
permanent situation. Most of the ones I know either found other
interests as they grew up, or found a new group to party with.
And I do not see the "purists" as the only ones that compromise. I
know many times that they make efforts to keep the party quiet. One
reason the party goes on so loud sometimes is as a reaction to people
trying to tell them how to live their lives, including autocrats,
purists, and parents. I don't see that we have to have tolerance
for them, and they don'thave to tolerate us. It is this "Us" and
"Them" seperation that I have a problem with.
I have some friends who are basically noisy partiers, and they are
very hospitable, and like a good song or story from a bard, the
same as my purist friends. I just don't like the label of "right" or
"wrong".
I appreciate your goal for perfection, but realize that other people
have other goals, and they are not "wrong".
