Bordeaux winemaker suspected of watering wine

Several top officials employed by the prestigious Bordeaux winemaker Chateau
Giscours have been formally placed under investigation on suspicion of
watering the wine, justice sources said Tuesday. They said Giscours' former
director Jean-Michel Ferrandez and oenologist Regis Froidefond had formally
been named targets of a criminal probe opened in 1995 by investigating
magistrate Denis Couhe. Wealthy Dutch businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma,
chairman of a Dutch firm that acquired the chateau in 1993, was questioned
by the judge on May 15.
