I have never read nor heard any one say that the purpose of the SCA was to
feel "like we were in the Middle Ages". There are moments, when for a few
seconds , you can forget that you are in this bizaare world we call "modern"
but those moments are rarem and to be cherished. To actually believe that we
are trying to achieve such a tate continuously is , IMO, absurd. Now, groups
like the MRS and others are trying to do that but the SCA has never tried to
do that and , hopefully, never will. It is my believf and understanding that
the SCA is for recreating the MA as they should have been not as they were.

I may be off the wall here but that's how I feel. Certainly as individuals we
should strive to our own perfection but to expect all tom conform to our
individual idea of the Dream is not reasonable. I can share in your Dream for
a moment and you are welcome to share in mine but the Dream is exactly that,
individual and not group defined as some are wont to describe it.

off the soap box and standing firm preferring the open to the rock.

Yours in service to the Dream,
Ras
