Pinons are pine nuts, but not all pine nuts are pinon.  Apparently, there
are several species of pine which yield edible nuts.  I haven't gone looking
for the species names yet, but it might be interesting to do a taste test
between them.  We may have all been talking about the same thing, and
discussing different tastes.
