I think you have already tried several useful avanues and I am disappointed
on your behalf that they did not yield results. In Lochac, our Laurel
Pricipal is responsible for maintaining a list of each Laurel's contact
details, apprentices and areas of expertise. All of us Laurels have a copy,
so we can pass on the information to A&S offices etc. Since you have asked
for this without success, maybe this list is not maintained in your Kingdom.
It is a big project to start with - I can only hope your letter has started
someting useful.

My only practical suggestions are to any Laurel you know who are the
"experts" in the areas you want to judge. Even without a formal list, you
should get some info. You can also ask people who are really good at the
field, even if not laurelled. Ask some of the people entering who they think
would make good judges.

How to ask? Flattery works wonders - use it. Show you are organised.
Specific knowledge about when during the event the comp will be held, how
the judging will be done and how long it might take (depandant on entry
numbers) also helps. Make it easy to be a judge. Say thankyou afterwards!
Make sure the results get air time at court (and displayed if possible).

These things work with me (I get suckered easily and end up judging a lot -
finding judges is a common problem). Going to an event to judge a comp which
is badly organised so you wait around for hours and then have to cram
through the judging too quickly to give useful feedback to the entrants
before they take their things away because the event is closing is a real
disincentive for next time...

Hope these ideas help
