The reason I stated that this was not a period recipe, is because there is
not recipe for it.  I made it up out of ingredients that are period, but
have no documentation.  I do not try to justify my recipes with "Well, they
ate this and that in period so I can make a dish with both and call it
period."

I try to document all the dishes I serve (well 90% of them anyway) and with
this one I could not call it period.  It wasn't because of any of the
ingredients.  They are all period, but the recipe itself is not.
