Angeline,

Good job! Sounds like you really worked hard on this event, and I'm glad you had a success! That's a pretty impressive menu for a first feast.

It's good to know that there are other feastocrats out there looking out for the vegans as well as the vegetarians. My parents quite often do the vegan thing (for dietary reasons, they're both trying to stave off diabetes) and we're finding more and more that some people don't even know the difference... it's really hard to maintain a good balance.

I'm trying something new for the feast I'm doing this weekend (oh god is it already less than a week away? AAAAACK!) I found out by doing some reading that there was a particular feast in period (I THINK it was a funeral feast for the Bishop of Bath & Wells) that had a separate "fish-day" menu for the Clergy; so my feast (since it happens to be Lent right now) is having a separate "fish" menu for people who wish to observe Lent by abstaining from meat.

Of course the "Lenten" menu is really for the vegetarians, since we happen to have a lot of them; and all I'm doing, since I don't want to work TOO hard <g>, is providing one or two alternative dishes per course that are make-aheads--like quiche, lentils, etc.; and I'm trying to make as many of my starch dishes as I can with homemade veggie broth instead of meat stock.

Anyway, congratulations again; I think your menu sounded wonderful!

	- kat
