It depends on if the recipe calls for a touch of sweetness or not.  Grenadine
is very sweet because of it's sugar content whereas pomegranate juice is never
more sweeter than the fruit itself.  If the recipe contains some sweet factor
then use the grenadine and TASTE before adding further sweetening.  Then
determine if the additional sweetener should be used.  Although grenadine is
pomegranate based, the fruit juice and the commercial product are 2 different
ingredients.
