I found the number of different spellings of the same word within 
the main text I was translating (the Vatican copy of Viandier) to 
be more common than 'rare'.  Perhaps we have had differing 
experiences.

I've not been upset by any of the other reactions.  Nor do I 
think you have anything to apologize for.  I thought your head 
was quite admirably level throughout.

I had been hoping that my comments would enable you to polish 
your translation, in order that your translation would become 
the one that Cindy would use.


It's always difficult to judge whether to write a one-phrase 
comment, or a mini-thesis, or something in between.

I have a tendency towards the one-phrase comment, backed up at 
a later date, if requested, by a mini-thesis.

If one does the mini-thesis first, the discussion may be stale 
news by the time the mini-thesis is ready to post.
