Actually in some ways, yes. I don't mean that it's great to be
allergic to alcohol so I have to avoid things that use it or try a
substitution. Having food allergies AND being a cook has made me a
more sensitive cook. I work harder in the kitchen to avoid cross
contamination and I try to educate people.

"No, the vegetarians won't want to eat that nice steamed herb
pudding if you sit it on the same tray as the lamb to soak up the
juices."

"Gee, you just made all of those carrots completely inedible to my
family by putting the beets cooked in wine sauce on the same tray
(beets leak -- a lot)."

Like I said before, I don't expect people to cook around me, but I
can't eat even the basic things if we can't be a little bit careful
about things like cross contamination.
