It is vegetable stock made to taste vaguely like chickens.  In Melbourne
there are at least two brands of the stock available, both in liquid and
powder form.  I used the powdered form, mainly as I was making about 10
liters of stock. :)

The stock tends to include things like caramel and soy products, and lots
of salt, to give a sort of chicken-ish flavour (or beef if you want), and
it is much loved by vegetarian cooks.  Not sure if it is available overseas
