Not for me. I always try for flavor instead of appearance. Alternatively, if
you keep your eyes open unusual ingredients or rare ingredients pop up
occasionally giving you the opportunity to do a recipe :"right". In the
meantime, there are many other recipes which do not call for the unavailable
ingredient. :-)
