Ras wondered what a chivalrous cook might be:
So in no particular order, here are some goals...
A cook will consider the quirks and foibles of the diners, and avoid
serving nothing but offal to a vegetarian 'because they should get used
to it...'
A cook will share their knowledge with those who aspire to understand the
craft and improve their own skills
A cook will promote authentic medieval cooking, not themselves as a cook.
A cook will endeavour to give their guests something new and interesting
and something familiar and loved.
A cook will not scream at the dishwasher, servers, or other 'underlings'.
Where correction is required, it will be offered helpfully,
constructively, and with gratitude, because the cook expects that the
recipient will be knind enough to try and improve by acting on the
advice given.
Anybody got the time to work this into a medieval french poem of advice
for young apprentices??? Or want to add/subtract stuff?
