  i would think   the  difference between  PA Dutch cooking and German 
cooking  would be  similar to the differnce between any  americanized 
ethnic food and the real ethnic food. BTW  The are call the PA Dutch  
because of the German   word  for, well German is Deutsche.
Like many things we  Americanized the pronunciation and now  many people  
mistake what the heritage  really was. 
 just my  .02
