Absolutely not!  Juniper berries (a.k.a. Melmot berries) have a very
distinctive flavor.  When I'm at a loss for some, I substitute a shot of
gin.

thereto, parsley, Sage, powder of pepper, cloves, Maces, Vinegar, salt, And
let them boil till they are enough, & serve it forth.
