Ummm. . . .as an illuminator I'd have to disagree a bit here.  There were a
lot of cultures and area where both calligraphy and illumination were done
during the MA, since it is a rather broad period of time.  The Irish certainly
kept their own unique style alive, and brought it to an amazing level of
sophistication but they weren't only ones writing. . .:->
