I have never heard that broken spleen will ruin the meat. Spleen is one of the
edible organs, SFAIK. However, if the gallbladder breaks, it makes the meat
very bitter and foul tasting.

BTW, my recent aquisition's only injury besides a broken leg and 3 broken ribs
was a crushed head (like a bowl full of jelly). The meat itself was in
excellent condition. :-)
