Recipe for Magic Sword:
 
Ingredients:

Good quality high carbon steel rods.
Good quality low carbon steel rods.
Boron for welding.

Oil for tempering and annealing.
Acid for cleaning bath.
Leather, wire, wood, or bone for grip. 
Brass or copper or bronze heavy wire for rivets.

Take iron rods, heat, twist, and reheat and weld while hammering.
Repeat.
Repeat.
Repeat.
Fold in half and repeat.
Repeat.
Repeat. 
Repeat.
Fold in half and repeat.
Repeat.

Shape and rough balance blade. 
Reshape and rebalance.
Continue until you have the shape and balance you wish.

Temper and anneal, making sure blade it oriented in a North - South
direction.

Use acid and sand to polish blade.
Repeat as necessary to bring out the pattern.

Afix guard, handle, and pommel, using chosen rivets.
Recheck balance, and adjust.

Bless and dedicate to the deity of your choice.

Use only for honor and justice.
