Greetings, the list.

Sheesh - a few days off the list (fighting 'flu and suchlike), and all
these debates in my absence. Many thanks to everyone for details of the
AGA company online - I'll have a look over the next few days and see if the
site's up so that I can identify my widget. (I'm going to look really silly
if the darned thing doesn't even belong to the stove). Likewise thanks to
Allison for the sweep suggestion. I have _no_ idea if such a thing even
*exists* in this country - I suppose, logically, it must do, enough houses
have fireplaces. I associate sweeps with England, really. To much
Victorian literature.

Cape Town is having heatwaves, so I think the firing-up-the-stove experiment
can wait for a bit. But preparations will continue in the light of all the
suggestions and advice I've received.

My thanks,
Melisant
