I am curious about this statement since most period pictures show food being
set on the tables 'family style' to be shared by several diners at once. It is
my understanding that this was the most authentic serving style albeit the
number served from a single bowl was less than the 8 we ususallly factor now.

Would it be possible for you to share your thoughts as to why you feel that
'family style is not very period. Thanks in advance.
