It is truly quite simple. Unfortunately meads and other wines take
typically a year or more to become good. This is dependant on the
ingredients. There are a lot of people who drink and/or serve them
before that time (even myself at times), but in general 2 to 5 years is
best.

Just so you know that it's not for those who are impatient.

Well there certainly are brewing related lists, as well as a mead lovers
digest but these are aimed more at the brewer/vintner than the drinker.

If you have access to newsgroups, you could try rec.craft.winemaking or
rec.craft.brewing. There are discussions there about mead all the time.
