Exactly. By providing a well-balanced feast with each dish containing
different ingredients, the SCA cook can make it appear as if he/she were
providing for everyone who might like to participate in the feast whether they
consciously do so or not.

BTW, I always feed beggars at the back door at all my feasts. I have had no
one take advantage of my generosity in the 14 years I've been cooking feasts.
At the last feast no one showed up at the back door. :-( 

Which brings up the subject of leftovers. DO NOT ASSUME that the clean-up crew
knows what should or chouldn't be saved. And never assume they will save
anything that is left. Taking a few extra minutes after the feast to point out
what should be kept will save a lot of hard feelings and assure that perfectly
good food is not relegated to the dumpster.
