>>>Let me make it clear that none of this is meant as a criticism of
anyone, or
the way feasts are run in my kingdom or yours, or anyone else's. I'm
just
making some observations and guessing at the possible causes. There are
certainly more answers than the above, and very probably better ones,
too. I
hope this helps, though: one never knows, do one?

Hello Phil!

I finally realized that you were the one who cooked feast for Crown
Tourney. I helped you in the kitchen (I was the one up to my elbows in
the pot of cuke/yoghurt 'soup'for lunch). I know that most feasts that
are not well attended on the island (Long Island) are because people
know the cooks. Most of these attendees know what they like and are not
willing to/do not want to eat what the cooks will be serving. Also,
there are MANY food allergies floating around out there. As one of those
people (barley, hops, walnuts, pecans, coffees, any ale, stout or beer)
I am sooo very careful to make sure that the food is well posted and I
make a seperate batch (small, but enough) to serve the "problem" eaters.
Since my mother is also a diabetic, I am well aware that the balance
must be carefully maintained in her diet. I make sure that I allow for
sweet/savoury and bland/spicy balances in the food.

I myself have stopped attending feasts where I know two certain cooks
will be. A few other people like their cooking, and always want them to
cook feasts. I for one do not think that shelling out $15 for a chinese
food 'feast' (that is not as good as my local shop) is ridiculous. Yes,
I have made my opinions known, but no one listens. The lower attendance
at feasts is the public talking....

Just my two cents!
