So what we seem to have here is a sword of fairy craft, which is, by
definition, invincible (Merlin states none may stand against it), which is not
magical? Seems unlikely...

The scabbard's specific enchantment has to do with blood loss to the
wearer...presumably decapitation or equivalent trauma would still kill the wearer.
