Ras, please remember that here in Ansteorra we are in the middle of the
Bible belt.  The mundane laws and attitudes about alcohol are not the same
as they are there in the East. 

I am not saying that that nessisarily makes it the best decission, but you
can not summarily dissmiss a decission that was based on the local culture
and mind set.

This is the reason that there is animosity between groups in the SCA (and
there is, beleive me.  I moved here from the East and experienced it first
hand).  We all think that we know how the SCA works and what the rules are,
but we forget that the needs and mind-set of the kingdoms vary greatly, and
that results in a different SCA in each Kingdom.

Gunthar, why don't you get in touch with the Don Jeramy and find out the
reason for the law.  Perhaps he could send a note to the list so everyone
can better understand.
