Was looking at the translation of the recipe with the bit reading "thicken
with cornflour" and found that you are most likely right, Mordonna. The Latin
phrase referring to this section of the process is,"Amulo obligas". I was
unable to find a translation for the noun, "Amulo", but working backwards the
word for corn is "callus," and the word for flour is "pollen," so I think they
may be meaning another grain flour entirely- possibly another substance. The
word "obligas" is a verb, "obligare", meaning among other things, to bind, and
is the word from which we get the word obligation.
