Once more regional variation blows me away. Here lamb is a cheap cheap
meat. You can still buy a side of lamb for $2 a kilo. I cannot imagine
not having eaten lamb before. Lamb chops and beef mince were the two
major meats of my childhood (I come from a pretty poor background)

Lamb around here is an expensive meat, and considered fairly exotic. I've
been teasing Ragnar about moving down under with him, and living on lamb.
It's my favorite red meat, beyond beef, buffalo, venison, elk, or any
other, which was a good thing, this past Pennsic ;-) Lord Ras and I split
on a whole lamb, about 40 lbs, or 19 kgs., for Pennsic, and it cost us
$110, cut to my specifications, and including the brains, heart, kidneys,
and liver, and we got a very good deal. We REALLY didn't need another
member of our camp bringing in a couple of lamb roasts as a special treat,
but we managed to deal with it.

Incidently, Pennsic goers, I've been thinking that if anyone is interested,
I'll be happy to cause large quantities of lamb, and freshly frozen rabbits
to appear at next Pennsic, at my cost. Anybody interested? Could likely
come up with fresh frozen, corn fed, beef and pork as well. E-mail me
privately, and we'll discuss it.
